Membership

Sylvia Martinez advised the following:

q      She is working on a spreadsheet regarding members.

q      She receives a membership roster from SHRM on a quarterly basis. She explained the roster, as well as the sheet with additional names (at large members). Joy Neal advised we can receive the roster monthly if we contact Marilyn Hoppen.

q      She began contacting past members Ð most have not renewed their memberships because their companies will not pay the dues. Discussion ensued regarding these members and how AVHRA can assist. It was decided to vote on a case-by-case basis to determine assistance with dues.

q      Steve Bobst suggest we contact non-members and invite them to a meeting, perhaps even picking up the person and paying for their meal.

Publicity

Janice Soder shared the following:

q      She has published program announcements in several outside papers.

q      AVHRA needs to announce its monthly program in the Wenatchee World at least two weeks in advance of the program.

q      A suggestion was made to send a program calendar to the company leaders so they can better plan.

q      It was also suggested to place program calendars on the tables at the monthly meetings.

Diversity

Shaune Barton advised the following:

q      She contacted SHRM regarding speakers on diversity.

q      She talked about a diversity article in the Wenatchee World.

q      We should definitely announce our diversity program in the Chamber newsletter.

Certification

Joan Lovitt advised the following:

q      Janice Soder is the only person enrolled in a study group beginning in February for the test window in May.

q      An article in the newsletter would be beneficial.

q      She will bring a handout to the next general meeting in order to share information regarding certification.

q      She suggested contacting SHRM regarding the possibility of changing certification criteria to include those persons who are in a non-exempt status, but work in the HR field.
