Co-President Sparks shared a joke submitted by Jo Ann Tucker.
Karen Bland reported that there were minor grammatical changes noted for the minutes dated November 10, 2005. Janice Soder moved to accept the minutes as written. Joan Lovitt seconded.

IV. Board Reports
Jo Ann Tucker discussed the monthly programs:
December Ð Annual SHRM Foundation Silent Auction, scheduled on December 8th at Executive Flight, East Wenatchee. The following was discussed:
á Jo Ann advised they are now planning for food. Food budget to be at Jo AnnÕs discretion.
á After discussion, it was decided that reservations need to be received by Friday, December 2nd in order to plan for food.
á Advertising cannot be placed in newspapers because of the hosted bar.
Melissa Wear-Grimm, Annie Horey, Lisa Turner, Gil Sparks and Jo Ann Tucker will meet regarding 2006 programs. Melissa advised she would contact each person to ascertain his or her schedule so she could plan the meeting date.

Board Reports continued
School to Work
Lisa Turner reported that she received the Workforce Readiness survey. She advised she would complete the survey and submit.
Membership
Sylvia Martinez reported that she mailed out four information packets last month. She reported we have at least three new potential members. She is also sending out ÒblastersÓ to remind members of upcoming meetings and events. Co-President Sparks asked her to be sure she included Jack Powers Ð CWH, Sandy Smeller Ð City of Wenatchee, Allen Patterson Ð Wen. Valley Clinic, and Lance Heise at Cascade Medical Center.
Financial
Annie Horey reviewed the Register Report and Balance Report. As of November 9, 2005, the Register Report showed an overall balance of $16,092.82 and the Balance Report showed balance of $6,919.11.
Janice Soder reported publicity is working well this month. We are running our ad six times this month (Ogden Murphy Wallace is picking up the tab for three runs). There will be no advertising in the month of December.
Legislative
Steve Bobst provided to Co-President Sparks the most recent issue of the Small Business Report provided by the Independent Business Association. Also, through an email transmittal, Steve donated a tour flight for the auction.
Joan Lovitt advised she is almost finished with classes. She has gone from seven students to three, with two going to take the test. Janice Soder thanked Joan for her dedication and commitment to leading the classes.
After discussion, it was decided to have a drawing for a door prize to win a certificate worth one full year of free meetings to an AVHRA member.
Newsletters
Ruth Erwert advised the deadline for the December newsletter is November 19, 2005. Co-President Sparks advised that Paul Kube will be the legislative chair for 2006 and will be providing articles for the newsletter.

Co-President Sparks shared the following:
1. By-Law revision: A copy of the proposed amendments to the by-laws will need to be forwarded to SHRM. We will put notice in the December newsletter, and call for votes on amendments at the January general meeting.
2. 2008 NHRMA Conference Ð Tri-Cities, WA.
á We were accepted to co-host the conference, along with the Yakima and the Tri-Cities chapters. Traci Sunday at Tri-Cities is lead organizer. She is working with Ewe Me & Company (conference coordinator). Helen Evans is the Yakima Chapter representative.
á Co-President Sparks advised we need early commitment from members to make this work. He will schedule an initial planning meeting with AVHRA members, to include himself, Melissa Wear-Grimm, Lisa Tuner, Annie Horey and Barbara Davis.
á Co-President Sparks advised there will be a conference planning meeting with Tri-Cities and Yakima in either December or January.
3. Auction Ð several items have been donated already. Co-President Davis encouraged board members to continue to seek donations.

4. Meeting with Colin Brine: Discussion ensued regarding a recent meeting between Colin Brine and Co-President Sparks, Melissa Wear-Grimm & Arlene Abbott regarding the next Leadership Series session to begin in January. AVHRA has put a lot of effort and resources into this series. The next session will begin on January 17, 2006. Mr. Brine will be given a few minutes to promote his series at the November general meeting.
5. Co-President Davis advised she wanted to get a photo of the 2005 Board members with the NHRMA Award.
6. Co-President Sparks announced that a full-time HR position is open at the Quincy Columbia Basin Irrigation District.
7. Ruth Erwert announced there will soon be an opening at the PUD for a compensation specialist.
VI. Next Board Meeting
The next board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, December 1, 2005 at 7:00 a.m., at The Roaster.
