I.               Welcome / Call to Order

President Melissa Wear-Grimm called the meeting to order at 7:10 a.m.

 

II.        Review and Approval of the Minutes

President Melissa Wear-Grimm reported no changes noted for the minutes dated February 9, 2006. Gil Sparks moved to accept the minutes as written. Janice Soder seconded.

Discussion: None.

All present approved. Motion Passed.

 

III.       Board Reports

Programs

Jo Ann Tucker discussed the monthly programs, she distributed the program schedule for the year, please see attached.

 

There will be a leadership meeting with Kathy Murdes, Colin Brine and Gil Sparks on March 9, 2006 at noon at Viscontes. This meeting will review and brand AVHRA with sponsoring this type of program. There will be discussions to see if we should affiliate with WorkSource.

 

The evaluation of the February 16th program with Deloma was excellent. Jo Ann is looking to schedule another program next year. We still have July open, but will not schedule a program in July.

 

Annie Horey updated registration for the March 23 program Employment Law for Managers and Supervisors. 106 are registered with 111 expected at the end of the day. April 5th program has an additional 21 registered to date

 

Annie, Melissa and Lisa met to discuss how to compensate OMW for the AVHRA seminars. A vote was taken with the board and decided that the board would like to pay $2,000 to OMW and run a large ad in the WW thanking OMW for the program.

Diversity

Arlene Abbott reported she would like to meet with Jo Ann and Melissa to talk about diversity. She has a vision, however nothing new to report at this time.

 

School to Work

Lynn Bourton reported the job fair is on April 11, 2006. AVHRA will host a panel discussion on ÒHow not to lose the job before you get itÓ. Annie Horey, Melissa Grimm-Wear and Arlene Abbott will sit on the panel.

 

Membership

Sylvia Martinez reported membership grew from 61 to 67 this month. We have 5 new people. Sylvia will cross reference who was lost this month. Sylvia has had lots of requests for packets and has been making them up and sending them out.

 

Financial

Patty Mitchell presented the financial statement. The Register Report showed a balance of $4,207.40, and the Balance Report showed an overall total of $13,585.55.

 

Patty report that $5,670 has been paid to Colin Brine.

 

Patty would like to set up a budget meeting for next year. She would like to meet before the next board meeting in April.

 

Publicity

Janice Soder indicated that Gil has been working on most of the advertising for next monthÕs program. She had nothing new to report.

 

Certification

Joan Lovitt advised a new certification class will begin February 22. She currently has 3 people in the class including herself and Diane Peterson.

Legislative

Paul Kube reported the legislative session is over, which was an early finish. The following bills have passed:

á      Expansion of the definition of a protected class to include sexual orientation has passed the legislature.

á      Gil reported there is also a change in how unemployment is calculated.

 

Newsletter

 

Deadline for the April newsletter is March 24, 2006.

 

IV.       General Interest Items

 

á      Foundation: Barbara Davis has nothing new to report on Foundation.

á      Logo Wear: Barbara Davis reported that she was not pleased with the fleece. It was not the polar fleece that was ordered. Barbara brought in samples of polar fleece jacket available. There were discussions regarding the pricing of the garments from GOUSA since most of the boardÕs businesses does business with GOUSA.

 

Annie Horey moved that AVHRA should pay $20 toward board members logo wear. Lynn Bourton seconded.

Discussion: None.

All present approved. Motion Passed.

 

á      2008 NHRMA Conference: Gil had no updates to the conference.

 

V.        Next Board Meeting

The next board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 13, 2006th at 7:00 a.m., at The Roaster.

 

VI.       Adjournment

The meeting adjourned at 7:50 a.m.
