School to Work
Lynn Bourton was not present.
Membership
Sylvia Martinez reported that SHRM is now requiring that a 20 question questionnaire be completed before they can send to us the monthly AVHRA roster. Sylvia reported that this process is very cumbersome. Melissa Wear-Grimm suggested that we pull the roster quarterly instead of monthly.
Sylvia also reported that email blasts have to be approved before they can be sent out to the membership. Sylvia reported that there is a delay in getting approval. She is waiting for approval to send out a blast concerning this monthÕs program with Judith Clark. The Board agreed if SHRM continues to require approval, they need to be more responsive on their approvals back to us.
Sylvia reported that membership is stable. Sylvia raised the question about scholarship memberships. Melissa indicated this was addressed at the last board meeting. The decision was made to scholarship only current board members in need.
Financial
Patty Mitchell presented the financial statement. The Register Report showed a balance of $4,207.40, and the Balance Report showed an overall total of $13,585.55.
Patty report that the Chelan PUD check had not yet been deposited and not everyone had paid for the legacy series. Colin Brine indicated there were two comp people for the next series. The Board is only aware of one. Annie Horey reported she would invoice CW Hospital for amounts owing.
Books for 2005 are currently being audited. Annie will have them for next months meeting.
Janice Soder indicated that the ad in the Wenatchee Business Journal from AVHRA thanking Gil and Paul for their presentation was well received. The ad will also follow in the Wenatchee World. Melissa complemented Janice on her work.

Board Reports, continued
Janice reported that ads in the Wenatchee World for the Tuesday/Thursday/Sunday rate is $714.00 Running the ad just one time would cost $342.30 for Sunday only. It was noted that the ad would need to run for the prior two Sundays to be effective. One option is to extend our deadline to the Monday before the program if we decide to pursue this type of advertising. Melissa would rather keep the advertising as it is currently.
The issue was raised concerning the flyer for JuneÕs program with Colin Brine. It was noted it lacks substance. Janice will pursue with Colin to obtain something more substantial for the June program flyer. Needs to be content based advertising and state the target audience.
Joan Lovitt advised that the Spring Class was completed in April and that no one is sitting for the May-June test.
Legislative
Paul Kube reported the legislative session is over, had nothing new to report. A discussion continued regarding the May 1 Immigration demonstration.
Newsletter
Ruth requested that we include a column for legislative updates. Paul Kube indicated that it might not be the best to call it legislative updates, but Paul suggested a broader by line. He will explore the options.
Ruth asked the Board for feedback on the AVHRA Newsletter. The Board agreed it was very well written and received by the membership.
Deadline for the June newsletter is May 24, 2006.
į Foundation: Barbara Davis has registered AVHRA as a chapter champion.
į Logo Wear: Barbara Davis brought in small and medium fleece jackets for us to try on. The cost for the jackets will be $35.80 for the ladies jacket and $30.50 for the menÕs jacket. Barb will email everyone with the options. It is requested that the Board members email back sizes and color choices. AVHRA will contribute $20 per Board member.
